Jesus, What a Wonderful Name to Know!

For as long as I can recall, Jesus has always been a prominent name to know in my life. I remember walking with my grandmother hand in hand to the little church on the corner of Kossuth. Who knew that decades later that walk would determine, alter, transform all that has happened, because I got to know the name of Jesus? I don’t know if you have any memories of getting to know Jesus or perhaps you don’t really know about him at all. You don’t have to walk to that little church at the corner of Kossuth! Jesus is everywhere! He’s waiting on you.

What is the point of getting to know Jesus? A better question would be what have you to lose? Nothing horrible can come out of believing in God and that he gave his one and only Son to serve a life here on Earth teaching, preaching, healing, and delivering us from ourselves…from our sins. We love to watch movies about someone being rescued and experiencing life alterations that have been well received.

That is exactly what a relationship with Jesus will be. It will be Jesus rescuing you from the insanities of this world. What’s the catch? Well, Jesus isn’t a genie or Santa Claus. You shouldn’t see him as a lottery ticket to get all that you want. In fact, what you should expect is a personal relationship in which you get as much as you give. But isn’t that what relationships should be? Who do you know wants to only give and give and not be on the receiving end? That would be one of the downsides of only watching created stories whether on tv or other avenues of entertainment. They give us a distorted version of what life should be in some cases. But don’t get me started on tv. That’s another blog!

Open up your Bible and dive into the pages to learn about Jesus. Haven’t you tried so many other things that simply didn’t work at all or worked momentarily? How much money have you wasted on stuff to feel better about yourself? You looked good for a day, an event, for a guy, or a woman. But then you were you again, looking for the next something or someone to make you feel good. Look to Jesus! Get to know the man, behind the name!

Let’s pray:

Heavenly Father, I am tired. My feelings go up and down all within a day. I feel like I’m struggling with myself to feel good about me. Sometimes I love what I see, but other days I get stressed out from one glance at the mirror. My negative thoughts are comsuming me. I need something more than just waking up and enjoying the day because everything went my way. Those days are few. I need help getting through the many days that don’t go my way at all. I need a Savior. I need Jesus and I need him now! Jesus, come into my life and help me to receive life altering experiences that only you can truly give. Thank you and I love you.

Thy will be done.

Amen and Selah.
