People need our help! Most of us can think of at least one person that could use a helping hand. And if you can’t think of anyone, perhaps you should start looking for someone to help. You may think that this sounds absurd, however, helping others is a definite win for everyone. When you are willing to help others, you are doing yourself a favor too. Making a decision to help others is called service.
Examples of service or serving could include doing nice gestures and kind acts. Putting someone’s grocery cart away or getting something from on high for someone shorter are simple small acts of helping, but they mean the world to those you are assisting. Random gestures of kindness can turn into a full blown ministry of helping or serving others. It doesn’t cost you a thing, you just have to be willing to do it. If you are cautious about approaching and/or talking to people, pray to our Father about a service that you can provide that meets your personality. Smiling at someone or picking up trash in a public place are acts of kindness that don’t require much interaction with others. You can help without people knowing that it’s you. God sees and knows what you are doing. When we help others, we are nurturing our relationship with God. God helps us, so we help others. This shows how grateful we are! That’s our payback.
Hebrews 13:16 “And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”
Let’s pray:
Father God, thank you for the chance you’ve given me to show gratitude and thankfulness towards you. Without you, I’m incomplete. I know that I should be helping people and I’m not sure that I know how. Please help me to find a way to help others. There a lot of ways that I can serve my community, please give me the desire to do so and show me those that meet my personality. Thank you and I love you, Daddy!
Thy will be done.
Amen.
